Chance After Chance After Chance

Chance After Chance After Chance

You don't know what to do with something you didn't earn and could never repay. So you do the only thing that fits. You say thank you.

Where Are the Other Nine?

Luke 17 tells the story of ten men with leprosy who begged Jesus for mercy. He healed all ten. Verses 15-17: "One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him — and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, 'Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?'"

The nine weren't villains. They got what they needed, and they moved on.

That's the misconception the finale corrects: we treat gratitude like good manners, a quick "thank you, Lord" before dinner. But the kind of gratitude this arc has been building toward doesn't come from manners. It comes from memory. It comes from someone who knows exactly what they deserved and exactly what they got instead.

Forget Not

This week's memory verse lives inside a psalm that starts as a pep talk David gives his own soul. Psalm 103:2: "Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

Even David had to remind himself not to forget. Then, a few verses later, he names the benefit at the center of it all. Psalm 103:10: "He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities."

Gratitude grows when you remember the list He refused to keep.

Grace Upon Grace

"God I'm Just Grateful" by Elevation Worship and Chandler Moore lands right there. It sings about a way being made where there wasn't one, and grace stacked on grace, for people who never deserved it and could never earn it.

Then the bridge sums up the whole arc in the phrase this week is named after: chance after chance after chance.

That's the week. A ladder you couldn't climb. A room you locked yourself in. A Father on the porch. A million chances you stopped being able to count. And now, the only response that fits.

You'll still fall sometimes. But you know which way to turn now, and you know who'll be standing there. He won't be holding a list.

Before you sleep tonight, name five chances you never earned, and thank Him for each one by name.

If this arc did something in you this week, there's more waiting — the full CHANCE AFTER CHANCE experience is in the app, in FIVE DAYS ESSENTIALS for your group, and in Text Circle for a few friends.
