Coming Clean -- Position 1: Confession

CONFESSION — "Coming Clean"

"People see my risen hands, they think that I'm a righteous man / But inside I have drifted far away."

That line is the whole reason this arc exists. Not the drifting itself — the gap between what the drifting looked like from the outside and what it actually felt like from the inside.

Here's the trap: the better you get at looking fine, the harder it gets to admit you're not. Every week you hold the gap together is a week you've proven to yourself you can keep holding it. Which makes the idea of finally saying the true thing feel less like relief and more like risk.

But the song doesn't stay in the drifting. It ends somewhere else entirely: "Thank God that I have been redeemed." Not "thank God I finally look put-together again." Thank God for what happens when the truth gets said and the ground doesn't disappear underneath you.

Coming clean was never about proving you'd earned the right to be forgiven. It's about finding out you didn't need to.
