"I never stopped asking why. I've been searching all my life. Who are you and who am I." The song doesn't perform certainty it doesn't have. It names the actual state honestly: cynical, jaded, the light faded — not because belief disappeared, but because self-effort finally ran out of material.
Here's the misconception worth naming plainly: a dry well means something's wrong with you. It doesn't. It means the source was never supposed to be you in the first place — the well only ever worked because something filled it from underneath, and that was never your own digging.
"Is there an ocean I can drown in? Let me drink from your fountain again." That's not defeat. That's the first honest request of the whole arc — stop digging, start asking.
Depletion isn't the failure point of this journey. It's the doorway into it.
