And then one day, you look in the mirror again.
The same face. The same history. But you see it differently now.
The Misconception: Too Broken to Matter
Two lies tend to show up at the end of a long season of shame. The first says, I'm too broken to matter. God might love me, but He couldn't possibly use me. The second says, my purpose is behind me. I missed it. I blew it. Now I'm just getting by until the end.
Both lies sound humble. Both are wrong.
Fingerprints
"Living Miracle" by Megan Woods answers both. The song describes God's handprints hidden in every detail of who you are — a mystery too great to fully understand, a God who could place the stars and still form your heart and call it good.
Then it speaks straight to anyone who feels too broken: God doesn't make mistakes, and He didn't make one with you. Where you see broken, He sees a masterpiece. He never stops thinking about you. You matter. And God still has a purpose for your life.
The chorus is a reminder worth hearing every morning: you're a living miracle, made by a love beyond nature — and your breathing has a reason.
Breath
Go back to where this week started. Genesis 2:7: "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
Dust became a living being the moment God breathed. Job 33:4 makes it personal: "The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life."
The same breath is in your lungs this morning. And that means something. If you're still breathing, He's not finished with you.
Prepared in Advance
This week's memory verse tells you what that breath is for. Ephesians 2:10: "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
The Greek word for "handiwork" is poiēma — something crafted with intention. Some translations render it "masterpiece." And notice the last phrase: prepared in advance. Before you ever woke up ashamed, God had good work made for your hands, waiting for you to step into it.
One honest note: purpose isn't always a stage, a title, or a big moment. Sometimes it's the person sitting across from you today. The coworker who needs encouragement. The kid who needs your attention. The friend who needs a call.
Handmade. Known. Here on Purpose.
You were never just dust. You're dust God breathed on.
