Psalm 71:18 is not a gentle verse.
"Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come."
Read it slowly.
This is not a prayer for personal comfort. It's not a request for a longer life or an easier road. It's a specific, urgent, almost desperate prayer for one thing:
Time enough to declare.
The psalmist is not asking God to preserve his life. He's asking God to preserve it long enough to complete the declaration. Long enough to make sure the next generation hears. Long enough for the testimony to be passed forward.
Till I declare.
There is urgency in those two words that most of us have never fully felt. Because most of us don't yet believe that the clock on our testimony is real. We assume there will be more time. Better moments. Cleaner opportunities.
But the psalmist knows what most of us haven't admitted:
The window doesn't stay open forever.
And the declaration is not optional.
"Your mighty acts to all who are to come."
The next generation is coming. They will face what you have faced — the hard roads, the furnaces, the moments where the only evidence that God is faithful is someone else's testimony that He was.
Your testimony.
Not when you're ready. Not when the story is complete. Not when the platform is big enough.
Now.
Till I declare.
That's the prayer. That's the urgency. That's LEGACY.
