I built this arc while the language was still here.
That sentence lands differently than it used to.
Primary Progressive Aphasia is progressive. Which means every arc I build, every story I write, every word I choose — I am aware that there will come a day when this specific ability is no longer available to me. The word won't surface. The sentence won't hold. The arc won't come together the way it does today.
I don't know when that day is. Neither does the neurologist.
What I know is that it is coming.
And that knowledge — the specific, clinical, non-negotiable reality of a narrowing window — has done something to me that nothing else ever could.
It has made me serious about the declaration.
Not anxious. Serious. There's a difference.
Anxious would be paralyzed by what's coming. Serious shows up every week and builds the arc and writes the story and trusts that the five songs in the right sequence are doing something in someone that I will never fully see — because the alternative to showing up is staying quiet, and staying quiet is not something I'm willing to do while there is still time.
Psalm 71:18 is my prayer. "Till I declare."
Not till I'm done. Not till I'm finished. Not till the platform is big enough or the reach is wide enough or the language is fully gone.
Till I declare.
That's the prayer underneath LEGACY. That's what this arc is carrying this week.
And here's what I want you to take from it:
You don't need a degenerative brain disease to feel the urgency.
Your window is also real. Your clock is also running. The specific things you know — from the roads you've actually been on — have a shelf life, and the people who need to hear them are already in your life.
