Not Just the Heights. The Depths Too.

Not Just the Heights. The Depths Too.

Yesterday's finale closed out the arc. Today, let's sit with the verse that's been underneath all five days: Psalm 139:7-8.

The Question David Actually Asks

"Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?" It's worth noticing that this isn't a hypothetical question for David. He's not writing an abstract theology exercise — he's asking it from inside real trouble, the same way the whole psalm keeps circling back to being fully known, fully seen, with nowhere left to hide from that.

Correcting a Quiet Misconception

Here's a misconception worth naming plainly: treating God's omnipresence like a doctrine you affirm rather than a truth that actually changes how you read your own story. It's easy to agree, in the abstract, that "God is everywhere." It's a different thing to let that truth reinterpret a specific season you've been quietly filing away as evidence He was absent.

The Depths, Named Specifically

"If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there." Notice the pairing — not just the heights, the mountaintop, victorious seasons. The depths too. The verse doesn't hedge on that. The lowest, hardest, most confusing seasons carry His presence just as certainly as the clearest ones do. You just have to trace back far enough to see it.

Sit With This

What part of your story have you been reading as absence, that was actually presence you hadn't traced back far enough to see yet?
