POSITION 3: NOBODY BUT GOD — "But God" by Brandon Lake
Nobody, nobody but God.
This is the pivot the whole arc has been building toward — and it's important to notice how it happens. Not gradually. Not as the reward for finally doing enough work in Positions 1 and 2. Mid-sentence. The song's own structure does this on purpose: an unfinished thought, a story that was headed toward defeat, and then two words that rewrite where it ends.
I would still be caught up... but God. I would still be high in my addiction... but God. Doctor told me it was finished... but God.
Notice what doesn't get credit in any of those lines. Not effort. Not resolve. Not a better plan that finally worked. The song is specific on purpose: pulled out of the grave, broken out of chains — and the only name attached to either verb is God's.
That specificity matters, because it's tempting to read "but God" as a soft, general encouragement — things work out somehow. That's not what this position is saying. It's saying: name exactly what would still be true right now, if nothing had interrupted it. Then say the two words that actually did.
Not by your strength. Nobody but God.
