Say It Out Loud: "My Foot Is Slipping"

Say It Out Loud: "My Foot Is Slipping"

Midweek check-in: how's the Through, Not Around challenge going?

On Monday, the first touch was to name the old thing you reach for when the floor drops — and to run to Jesus first instead. Today's touch is shorter, and for a lot of us, harder.

Touch Two: Say It Out Loud

Psalm 94:18 is the anchor for today: "When I said, 'My foot is slipping,' your unfailing love, LORD, supported me."

Notice the order. The psalmist said it first. He didn't wait until he felt steady. He named the slip out loud — and then the unfailing love held him up.

So today, say it twice.

First, to God. Out loud, in your own words. Something like: "Jesus, my foot is slipping. Here's where." Then name it — the doubt, the exhaustion, the thing you've been pretending is fine.

Then, to one person you trust. A friend, a small group leader, a pastor, a spouse. Not your whole story. Just enough that you're no longer the only one who knows. A text that says "Can I be honest about something?" is enough to start.

Why Honesty Comes First

A lot of us believe we have to look steady to be held. So we hide the slipping — from God, from our people, sometimes from ourselves. But pretending you're fine doesn't make you held. It just makes you alone.

Today's chapter said it plainly: it was never your grip that kept you. It's His. And His hand doesn't need you to perform steadiness first.

If It's Heavier Than That

If "slipping" for you includes thoughts of ending your life or hurting yourself, please tell someone today — a person you trust, a pastor, or a counselor. In the U.S., you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline any time. That's not a failure of faith. It's exactly the kind of thing you were never meant to carry alone.
