Ten Minutes, One Letter

Ten Minutes, One Letter

Midweek check-in: how's the Breathed On challenge going?

On Monday, the first touch was a Mirror Check — crossing out the name shame calls you and writing what God calls you instead. Today's touch is about drawing near.

Touch Two: Ten Minutes, One Letter

James 4:8 is the anchor for today: "Come near to God and he will come near to you."

Here's how to take the step:

  • Put your phone in another room. Not face down. Another room.
  • Set a timer for ten minutes.
  • Open to the Gospel of John. Start with chapter 1, or pick up wherever you left off.
  • At the top of a page, write "Dear [your name]."
  • Read one chapter like it's a letter written to you.
  • When you finish, write one sentence back. A question, a thank-you, a confession — whatever's honest.

That's it. Ten minutes.

Why It's a Letter

Today's chapter pointed out a detail in "Super Good Feeling" by Bleach: the turning point in the song is reading God's letter. Life got clearer the closer they let Him come — and it started with a page they opened.

Many of us approach the Bible like a rulebook or a textbook. Reading it like a letter changes the posture. You're not studying for a test. You're hearing from Someone who calls you friend.

Why It's Only Ten Minutes

Because nearness isn't a reward for the super-spiritual. You don't need an hour, a perfect quiet time, or a theology degree. You need one honest step. James 4:8 promises that when you take it, He takes one too.

We'll check in one last time on Saturday.
