The Door Was Never Locked

The Door Was Never Locked

What if the door was never locked?

Not a rhetorical question. A real one — for anyone who's spent time assuming they'd have to earn their way back before anyone would want them back.

Most of us have taken the long way at some point. The detour we didn't plan. The distance that added up slower than we noticed. The story we told ourselves about needing to have it figured out before we could come home.

THE LONG WAY HOME drops this morning.

Five songs. One arc. For anyone whose road back was longer than they expected — and anyone finding out that was never the problem.

The journey moves like this:

THE DOOR IS OPEN — The invitation. No conditions, no explaining required.

EVERY BURDEN, EVERY CROWN — The response. Naming, specifically, what's being laid down.

THE TURN — Real. Declared. Out loud.

STILL BEING MADE — What's waiting on the other side of the turn: not a finished you, a workshop.

SENT TO FOLLOW — Walking back out to find someone still on the road.

This week's memory verse is Luke 15:20: "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him."

He was running before you'd made it all the way home.
