The Full Arc of LEAN NOT, Position by Position

The Full Arc of LEAN NOT, Position by Position

Every JDOT Five is built on a five-position arc — five songs, in order, each one doing a job the others can't do alone. Here's how LEAN NOT moves.

Position 1 — A MENACE TO MY OWN UNDERSTANDING ("Menace" — Franni Cash)
The arc opens with confession, not resolution. This is the moment you finally admit the pattern out loud: the sabotage, the fences, the fear built up sky-high, right when trust is what's actually needed. Nothing gets fixed here. Something just gets named.

Position 2 — OFF THE THRONE ("Used By You" — Reyne L/Kaitlyn Danos)
This is the hinge. The confession gets a root: you've been trying to orchestrate your own life — quietly, constantly — instead of trusting the One who actually knows how it ends. Pride, self-reliance, the need to be in charge: named specifically, and set down.

Position 3 — BYE TO THE OLD ME ("Bye Bye" — Seth Schueter)
Once the throne is empty, the old version of you doesn't get repaired. It gets buried. This position is the spoken farewell — out loud, no looking back — and the equally spoken hello to whatever's next.

Position 4 — CAUGHT UP IN THE MOVE ("Move (Remix)" — LIN D)
A new identity doesn't sit still. It has to go somewhere. This position is what following actually looks like: not steering, but caught up in someone else's direction, wanting to reflect Him more than protect your own plan.

Position 5 — LIFTED HIGH ("All This In A Name" — Pat Barrett)
The arc lands where it has to land — out loud, with the room. Once you've walked far enough to know leaning elsewhere actually holds, the only response left is naming, unashamed, the name that made it possible.

This week's memory verse — Proverbs 3:5-6 — isn't just attached to the theme. It's the whole arc in one verse: trust with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, and He makes the path straight. Not a straight path you engineered. One He makes.
