The Story of NOBODY BUT GOD

The Story of NOBODY BUT GOD

THE STORY OF NOBODY BUT GOD

You built it yourself.

That's the part you don't say out loud.

Nobody locked you in. You laid the stones, one on top of the other, until you'd built four walls and a ceiling around the version of you that was struggling — and called it a room to keep it contained.

Mortar and grief, stone by stone, until you looked up one day and realized you couldn't see the door anymore.

You called it protection. You called it coping. You called it just how I deal with things.

But underneath all the names you gave it — it was still a cell. And you were still inside it.

Set me free.

You didn't say it to anyone. You said it into the dark, half-believing nobody was listening, half-hoping someone was.

And then the walls didn't hold.

Not because you finally found the strength. Not because you dug your way out.

Something in you just stopped pretending.

The performance ended. The version of you that had it together put down the act and let itself fall apart — right there, in front of whatever was watching.

And nothing turned away.

No lecture. No timeline for when you'd have it figured out. No requirement to be okay before you were allowed to not be.

Just — stayed.

Which is its own kind of shock, if you've never been met like that before.

And that's when it happened.

Not gradually. Not a slow climb back to your feet.

Mid-sentence.

You were mid-collapse, mid-explanation, mid-excuse for why the room was ever built in the first place — and something reached into the middle of the sentence and rewrote the ending.

But God.

Two words. That's all it took to undo what took years to build.

Pulled out of the grave you dug yourself into. Broken out of chains you'd stopped noticing were chains.

Not because you asked the right way. Not because you'd earned the interruption.

Because nobody else could have done it.

Not your effort. Not your resolve. Not the next version of the plan you were about to try.

Nobody.

Nobody but God.

And here's what nobody tells you about being pulled out like that —

you don't just get out. You get changed.

The person who built the room isn't the person walking away from it.

Something got replaced in there. Not repaired. Not touched up. Replaced.

You keep waiting to feel like the old version of yourself, patched and improved — and instead you keep noticing it isn't you steering anymore.

No longer I who live.

You showed up ready to rebuild something. Instead, you found out you'd been rebuilt.

And what's left, after all of that, isn't a story you tell to explain what happened.

It's a name you can't stop saying.

Not because you're trying to convince anyone. Because it's the only word left that actually covers what happened to you.

There's healing in it. There's freedom in it. There's a whole life you didn't build yourself folded into that one name.

You used to build rooms to keep yourself contained.

Now you just say His name and watch what happens to the ones still standing.

Not by your strength.

Nobody but God.
