The Story of The Jesus I Know Now

The Story of The Jesus I Know Now

Somebody handed you a Jesus.

Maybe it was a parent. Maybe it was a church. Maybe it was a rule, a warning, a look across a pew when you did something wrong. You didn't choose your first image of Jesus — it was given to you. And for a long time, you carried it. You showed up. You behaved. You tried to keep the performance going because that's what you were told faith looked like.

But somewhere along the way, something cracked.

Maybe the rules stopped working. Maybe you got everything you wanted and stood at the top of it all with an empty heart and nowhere left to go. Maybe you found yourself in worship with your hands in the air and nothing inside. The prayers wouldn't come. The words felt hollow. And you were too tired to pretend anymore.

That's not the end of faith. That's the beginning of real faith.

Because the moment you stop performing is the moment you become available for an actual encounter. Not the Jesus someone described. Not the one who was angry, keeping score, waiting for you to slip. The real one. The one who hangs with misfits. Who listens. Who forgives — and then forgives again. Who knows every scar behind your story and still calls you friend.

Not servant. Friend.

And when you meet that Jesus — really meet Him — everything you thought you knew either gets confirmed or dismantled. His grace takes some getting used to. The idea that He likes you, that who you are isn't what you do, that you are who He says you are — that's not easy to receive when you've been running on performance your whole life. But grace has a way of getting in anyway. Slowly. Tenderly. Completely.

And then something unexpected happens.

You can't stop talking about Him.

Not because you're supposed to. Not because someone told you to. But because you've actually met someone worth talking about. You're not sharing a doctrine anymore — you're introducing a friend. And all you can think is —

Can't believe I was missing out on the Jesus I know now.

This week we walk that road together. From the Jesus you inherited to the Jesus you can't keep quiet about. Five songs. One journey.

Let's go.
