Yesterday, you stopped running. Today's the harder part.
Meaning it once isn't the same as staying. The turn isn't the finish line — it's the start of a road, and it's narrow, and it asks something of you every single day.
The Finish-Line Mistake
A lot of people treat the moment they turned to God like a finish line instead of a starting line — one decision, then coast. "The Narrow Road" pushes back on that hard: "I'm changing, I'm changing, I'm changing, I've changed — and I'm praying that I don't stay the same."
The Gap Between Words and Heart
"I knew the words before I knew you, knew the things to say before I knew the reason why." This is one of the most honest confessions in the whole arc — growing up fluent in the language of faith without your heart ever actually catching up to it. A lot of us know exactly what that gap feels like. This position exists to close it.
A Verb, Not a Memory
Romans 12:2 backs this up directly: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Notice the tense — renewing, not renewed. Real change isn't a memory of a moment you made once. It's a choice, made again, and again, every day the road stays narrow.
You can't get to real death of the old man later in this arc while you're still just remembering the day you turned instead of choosing it daily. This position is what makes everything after it credible.
