THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITY: POUR WITHOUT SEEING

New here? I KNOW HE WILL is this week's JDOT Five — five songs, one arc, about trusting what you can't explain. Here's a way to make this week's arc tangible, alone or with your group.

What you need: A blindfold (or just close your eyes). An empty cup. A pitcher of water. A partner.

How it works:
1. Blindfold yourself, or simply close your eyes. Hold the empty cup out in front of you.
2. Your partner pours water into the cup — slowly, without narrating when or how much. You can't see it coming. You don't control the timing. You just hold the cup in position and receive.
3. When your partner says stop, open your eyes. Look at what's in the cup.
4. Now try it the other way: set the cup down, and try to "fill" it any way you can without help — shake it, cup your hands, anything. Notice how long that takes, and how little it produces, compared to just holding still and receiving.
5. Notice: trusting the pour didn't require knowing the mechanism. It just required knowing the person holding the pitcher.

This is the whole theme, made physical instead of just sung.
