Every week on The JDOT Five comes with a challenge — something small, specific, and doable, meant to take the week's arc out of the realm of "nice idea" and into something you actually practice.
This Week: Carry One Thing
This week's challenge has three touches. Today, you'll name one gift you'd stopped noticing. On Thursday, you'll let yourself be carried by someone in your church family. And on Saturday, you'll carry something for someone else.
Receive. Be carried. Carry. That's the whole shape of NOTHING WASTED in three small steps.
Touch One: Name the Gift
Sometime today, write down one specific thing Jesus has given you that you'd stopped noticing.
Not "salvation" or "blessings" in general — those are true, but they're easy to say without feeling anything. Something specific. A person He put in your life at exactly the right time. A way out He made when you couldn't see one. A morning you didn't think you'd live to see. A habit He broke. A door He closed that turned out to be protection.
Write it down. Then thank Him for it — out loud, by name.
Why Specifics Matter
Today's chapter is about the moment the bread stops being a ritual and becomes a gift you're being handed. Rituals stay general. Gifts are specific. The fastest way to move from one to the other is to stop receiving in categories and start receiving in particulars.
We'll check back in on Thursday and again on Saturday.
