Every week on The JDOT Five comes with a challenge — something small, specific, and doable, meant to take the week's arc out of the realm of "nice idea" and into something you actually practice.
This Week: Say His Name
This week's challenge has three touches, and every one of them comes down to the same thing: saying His name out loud. Today you'll say it in the hurt. On Thursday you'll say it over something you've kept hidden. And on Saturday you'll say it to somebody else.
Touch One: Say It in the Hurt
Pick the one thing you've been holding together the hardest. Not the general stress of life — the specific thing. The one you haven't let yourself fall apart over, because you're the one who holds it together.
Sometime today, out loud, say His name in the middle of it. Not a polished prayer. Not a paragraph. Just His name. Jesus.
Why Just His Name
A lot of people don't pray about the hardest things because they don't know what to say. The words feel too small, or too late, or not faithful enough. This challenge takes that obstacle off the table. You don't need the right words. Today's chapter is about tears that came before any words at all — and every one of them was caught.
His name is enough to start with. It's always been enough.
We'll check back in on Thursday and again on Saturday. Wherever you are by the end of the week, that's exactly where this challenge is supposed to take you.
