Most people only quote the second half of this verse.
"Here am I. Send me."
It's a great answer. Brave. Bold. The kind of thing that ends sermons and starts missionary careers.
But you can't understand that answer without the moment that came before it.
Isaiah, in the throne room. Face to face with the holiness of God. And his first response isn't boldness.
It's collapse.
"Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips."
This is a prophet of God. A man who spoke for the Lord. And the sight of actual holiness undoes him completely.
The floor.
That's Position 1.
And then — the encounter. The burning coal. The purification. The voice of the Lord asking a question into the room:
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And the answer that can only come from someone who has been undone:
"Here am I. Send me."
Here's what this passage reveals about THE UNDONE journey:
The commission only comes after the undoing.
The "send me" only comes after the "woe to me."
The sending isn't in spite of the collapse on the floor — it's because of it. The floor is the preparation. The encounter is the transformation. And the throne is where the undone person discovers they've been equipped for something.
You can't get to "send me" by skipping the floor.
But if you'll let the floor be what it actually is — not the end, but the beginning — then the throne room is where you were always headed.
The undoing was the beginning.
