This is the specific challenge of the witness. You were there. You saw something. You know what it was. And every time you open your mouth to explain it, it comes out smaller than the reality.

There is a kind of silence that isn't emptiness — it's the overflow of something too large to contain. The witness in Position 2 isn't at a loss for words because nothing happened. They're at a loss because everything happened.
