You've gotten good at drowning Him out.
Not on purpose, not really. It just happens — the noise fills in wherever the silence would've been. Running from thing to thing, day to day, a life fully occupied and mostly empty.
The Lie That Keeps People Running
Here's a misconception worth naming directly: the belief that you have to clean yourself up before you're allowed to turn to God — get the habits under control first, then come to Him with something presentable. That's backwards, and it's the exact lie that keeps people running longer than they need to.
"You Have My Attention" tells a different story. The turn in this song doesn't come from finally getting it together: "You were gonna have to let me fall down on my back to get me looking up."
The turn comes from being brought low enough that looking up becomes the only option left — not from arriving with a finished product.
Attention First, Not Achievement
"Oh God, You have my attention. I'm sorry it took me so long." That's the whole hinge of this position. Not a resolution. An admission. God doesn't ask for your finished product. He asks for your attention, first, before anything else changes.
Where the Road Actually Starts
"White flag raised for all my days. Oh Father, I surrender." The song doesn't close with a plan for how to change. It closes with surrender — which is the only place the rest of this arc can actually begin. Turning isn't the finish line. It's the start of a road, and that road is going to ask something of you tomorrow, and the day after that.
