You Don't Need Answers. You Need Somebody.

You Don't Need Answers. You Need Somebody.

Someone you care about sits down across from you with a look you recognize, because it was on your face not long ago.

Maybe it's a call they didn't see coming, a test result, or a door that just closed. They're trying to find the words, and they can't. And you know exactly what that silence sounds like from the inside.

The Last Misconception

Here's the mistake worth naming right at the end, because it's the one that keeps most people quiet: the belief that you need answers before you can point someone to Jesus. That you have to have your own life fully together, or wait until your own mountain moves, before you're qualified to say anything at all.

So you say nothing. Or you say something safe and general and move the conversation along.

A Person, Not an Answer

"I Know Somebody" walks straight into the hardest moments people face — a sudden loss, a job gone after twenty years, an x-ray that comes back wrong — and it doesn't try to explain any of them. "There's no answer for it."

What it offers instead is a Person: "I know somebody who is close to those who wonder why some doors are closed, who lifts the low and heals the brokenhearted."

That's this week's memory verse almost word for word. Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." The song even makes room for the people who can't pray: "If you're all out of words to say, if you don't know what to pray... I know somebody."

She Didn't Have a Theology Degree

Remember the woman at the well from Chapter Four? She went back into town with nothing but a story about being known. John 4:39 says, "Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony."

She didn't have answers. She had an encounter. So do you.

I Know Somebody

Look back at this week. He caught every tear you couldn't explain. He came running the moment you said His name. He didn't move the mountain on your schedule, but He never left you alone on it. He knew everything about you, and He stayed.

You don't need all the answers for the person across from you. You just need to be able to say, as your own: I know Somebody. And He knows your name.

If this arc did something in you this week, there's more waiting — the full I KNOW SOMEBODY experience is in the app, in FIVE DAYS ESSENTIALS for your group, and in Text Circle for a few friends. And somebody in your life needs to hear it from you this week.
