CHANCE AFTER CHANCE — homepage teaser

This week's journey

Have you ever wondered if you've finally used up your chances with God?

Most of us quietly keep score — closer to Him on good weeks, hiding on bad ones, waiting to get it together before we come back.

This week's arc moves from a ladder you could never climb, through a Father who's been watching the road the whole time, to gratitude for every chance you never earned.

Not a second chance. Your millionth.

CHANCE AFTER CHANCE is available now. He doesn't keep score.

This week's Five:

Good — Matthew West

POSITION 1 — THE LADDER

Good | Matthew West

You can't be grateful for something you think you earned, so this arc had to start by kicking over the ladder. Matthew West opens by admitting he used to see grace as something every sinner had to climb, until he realized he never could. Then his chorus sets our track record next to God's — we keep falling, He never gives up — and lands on the truth this whole week rests on: we're not loved because we're worthy. We're loved because He's good.

Shame — Andy Mineo & Josh Garrels

POSITION 2 — THE HIDING

Shame | Andy Mineo & Josh Garrels

When the ladder fails, most of us don't quit climbing. We just stop letting anyone see us fall. Andy Mineo is more honest about that than almost anyone — telling everyone he's fine, building his own prison with the keys inside, trying to convince God he's worth His time. And then the turn: freedom started when he got honest. Somebody had to go first. (Leaders: preview Verse 2 before playing it in a group.)

A Forgiving God — SEU Worship

POSITION 3 — THE PORCH

A Forgiving God | SEU Worship

Shame assumes God is keeping the list too. This song shows what He's really been doing. It sings the prodigal's story from the inside, then turns to you with a picture I can't shake: a Father sitting on the porch, watching for you, ready to run down the road. You were never out of His heart.

A Million Chances — Jamie MacDonald & Tori Kelly

POSITION 4 — THE TURN AROUND

A Million Chances | Jamie MacDonald & Tori Kelly

This is the song I built the whole theme around. It starts with someone falling down again and ready to quit — and then the chorus turns everything around. No mess puts you past too late. You turn around, and He's standing there with another chance. Not your second. Your millionth. He doesn't keep score.

God I'm Just Grateful — Elevation Worship ft. Chandler Moore

POSITION 5 — THE GRATITUDE

God I'm Just Grateful | Elevation Worship ft. Chandler Moore

Once you've stopped climbing, stopped hiding, come home, and turned around, there's only one thing left to say. This song says it: we didn't deserve it, we couldn't earn it, and He gave it anyway. Then the bridge sums up my whole life in the three words this theme is named after — chance after chance after chance.
